Portland Trails is the local nonprofit urban land trust. It is a community of over 900 members who support the 70-mile trail network that connects over 35 green spaces and provides a fun and healthy way to get around town.

With the gift of a Portland Trails membership, 118 residents receive a copy of the 4th edition “Portland Trails Map and Trail Guide,” a Portland Trails member sticker and the quarterly newsletter and optional email invitations to events. Throughout the year guided walks, group trail runs, off-road bike rides, 5K races and a popular10K race in September. Stay up to date through our Enews Trail Log, trails.org and on social media.

Per membership director, Catherine Egan,

You have chosen to live in one of the many vibrant neighborhoods of Portland, and we are happy to have been chosen to help you become acquainted with some of the natural resources of your neighborhood and of Greater Portland.

Whether you are looking for water and skyline views, mountain biking terrain, running paths, natural places to explore with your family, quiet time by yourself or a place to walk your pet, we are nearby. Every resident lives within 1/2 mile of a trail or green space. With the critical support of thousands of volunteers, members, and businesses, (we receive no tax dollars) we are able to provide these resources for you to be able to fall in love with your new home.

Since 1991, Portland Trails has worked to save open spaces and build a network of trails throughout greater Portland. The trails connect urban neighborhoods, follow quiet river corridors, and enhance natural areas. The trail network provides both recreation and people-powered transportation options for residents and visitors.

Portlanders yearn to make a difference in their community, and to keep it a place for families to live, work, play and thrive. 3000 people volunteer for Portland Trails each year, supporting what they value with their time.
